New domain!

I finally got my own domain. From now on, the correct address to My House III is

Action in the cage!

One of the new males interests me very much; he seems very aggressive. Whenever the female won’t let him mate, he’s showing somewhat panic-like reactions, running very fast around the cage and finally hiding. I’ve also noticed that he’s not very fond of the other male (#2). Whenever he gets the chance, he attack and tries to “squeeze” #2. Since #2 is curling there’s not much else to do, so the attacks rarely last more than a few seconds. Afterwards, #2 is hiding very fast. I assume this all has to do with the female. The smaller male simply don’t like the other guy being around.

Jack’s been more and more passive over the last week. I’ve suspected that he’s about to moult, but haven’t seen any other symptom. A few hours ago, I noticed him digging for the very first time (neither of Jack and Jessie has showed any interest in digging, at all, until now). He’s never done that before. Still, I’m riddled if he’s sick of moulting. I hope I’ll get an answer soon, I’m very anxious.

Different behaviour

After only a few days already, I think it’s safe to say that millipedes are very individual animals.

Cage Alpha
Male #1, Jack, is very much like me. Lazy and not very easily bored, he spends most of his life sleeping – moving only when it’s time to feed. Au contraire from male no3, Jack doesn’t seem that driven to reproduce his genes.
Female #1, Jessie, is by far more active than her male friend. Rarely hiding and spending most of her time cleaning or eating.

Cage Beta
Male #2 seems to be very lazy, much like Jack. He’s found a nice place he likes and stays there, moving only for food. Should he catch his friends mating, he tries to get in the game, but never makes it. However, he’s managed to get the female accept his charm a few times, one-on-one.
Male #3 is the womanizer, no doubt. Every time the female makes a move, he’s right there, always trying to get some. And surprisingly enough, he manages to seduce her, almost on every attempt. Though she let him do his moves, she’s not so willing to accept his sperm package. Two out of three times, she refuses the package and lets him take care of it on his own. I haven’t been able to see what exactly he’s doing with the sperm. Either he’s eating it up, or he’s retracting the sperm sack into the gonopods again.
Female #2 is in every way the most active of them all – always moving around the cage, eating trice as much as the others and rarely sleeps. Should she decide to sleep, it’s only for an hour or so.

More millipedes

New members in the millipede Mafia! Three nice little creatures arrived here today. They are all of the same species as Jack and Jessie – “African Giant Black”. On their way here, one of the male and the female showed good will to make babies. In less than three hours, they managed to mate three times. The last time was in the car :D
Of course, I have the webcam online now, so that I can record anything that happens in their new home. Feel free to take a look here.

I really need to do something about my feeding habits. Breakfast today (at 14:18) consisted of Coffee, Cigarettes and a 200g piece of milk chocolate.
